Of course, these guys are headed for the Borscht Belt……..as Summitville was the “Grand Central of the Catskills……….”……..a little “Color” and “life” here……….
The Jones Hotel was not much, not much at all………and not a vaction venue at Summtiville; — but it was a place for the train crews to stay over…….with a saloon that so prominently advertised beer from the Orange County Brewing Company in Middletown. So, what for?……..and to give “life” to the models and dioramas………here’s a “front porch negotiation” in progress………by the hour……..maybe?
When you stand this close………..Yes, duck your head, like the gal in this image……..but you’ll still get a big mess of cinders in your hair…..especially from one of thes Alco products, which legend has it that they never had quite enough brick in the arch! And look……..the sanders are on….always needed since even after much work with the O&W shop people and the engineers sent down from Schenectady…….plus with the addittional sand box (for needed capacity) the Bullmoose were always a bit slippery. The photo here is form the last photo shoot on Bill Schneinder’s now departed layout………Livingston Manor crossing……….
